The Dale Greiner Nature Trail that winds through ESU’s Campus Woods is located just north of the PAROC and is a one-of-a-kind nature trail on campus open to the public. This riparian forest borders the banks of the Neosho River, offering countless opportunities to connect visitors with a variety of habitats. 

Dale Greiner Nature Trail

Enjoy a beautiful hike along the Dale Greiner Nature Trail, with trail heads located to the north and west of the PAROC facility.

This 1.6 mile trail passes by the Campus Prairie reconstruction area and into Campus Woods, winding along the banks of the Neosho River.

Campus Woods

One of the university’s 8 designated “Natural Areas” Campus Woods is a 13-acre riparian forest located along a portion of the Neosho River.

The Dale Greiner Nature Trail takes hikers through Campus Woods, with educational signage about the various native plants and wildlife that can be observed.

Campus Prairie:

A new prairie reconstruction project is underway in the turf grass areas that are located between the PAROC and Campus Woods area.

 

This winter, native grasses and wildflowers will be planted to create a prairie space which will expand ESU’s Natural Areas and provide additional educational and recreational opportunities.

We will also be organizing many opportunities for community outreach, which will be shared via PAROC’s social media:
